Return of the...?

Just a quick update on summers coolest trend for women the cat eye sunglasses. Now if your wanted to channel your own Holly Golightly be sure to pick up this classic shape. Generally when trying to find the perfect cat eye frame for your face, a cat eye with rounded-out edges will work wonders for a square face or diamond shaped face. A round face can benefit from sharper edges, or large frames that curve upwards subtly. All that said though, the rules are never concreate the best option is always to try, try, try on pairs until you find the best fit.

Wardrobe Essential!

Today I want to talk to you about hoop earrings, a complete summer essential. Personally I love hoop earrings, have since I hit the eighth grade and would beg my mother to buy them for me every time we went to the mall. When I finally got a cheap pair from Clair's for chistmas I worn them until they infected my ears and of course she made me take them out before my ears fell off. . . But anyways in gold, these season- less pairs not only go with everything, they also flatter every face shape. When choosing a pair of hoops  in 1"-2" in diameter feels the most timeless and a thinner hoop is easiest to pull off. Leave chunkier and bigger hoops for a night out.

A Classic: The Hunting Jacket

Today I wanted to talk to you about my favorite staple piece the hunting jacket or also known as the utility jacket.  A jacket that was designed to endure the elements also stands strong again the latest trends and for good reason, this jacket is effortless and chic. Engineered to be strictly functional turned highly fashionable in the last couple of year and has been seen on celebs such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Alexa Chung.  The Hunting Jacket is perfect for toughening up a lace dress or a floral skirt. The jacket I've shown below is by JCrew and only retails for $148 compared to other retailers it’s a complete steal.

Peplum

Okay, okay I do have to apologize about the lack of posting I have done in the past couple of weeks. I promise it will never happen again.  Anyways I want to talked about  Peplums: A short over ruffle attached at the waistline of a jacket, blouse, or dress. Now Peplums are being worn all over Hollywood by celebs like Emma Stone, Liv Tyler and Emma Watson. Peplums are a fantastic way to work in a retro, feminine touch in your wardrobe, not to mention a welcome alternative to lace. While peplums tend to be figure flattering, it is a trend to stay away from if you're self-conscious about your waist as it will inevitably draw attention to that area. I love this look because it give a real lady like elegance.

Tip: when wearing a peplum top remember that the bottom needs to be fitted ex. Like a skirt of skinny pants.

Solar Flare

The second Pantone Colour I wanted to write about is Solar Power, a yellow so fun and bright it commands all attention. I love this colour when it’s done in small amount like as a shoe or a simple jacket. This season I’m really feeling the yellow top by Rag&Bone, actually Lemon curry to be more precise. I love way it hangs asymmetrical and that you care pair it up with a pair of skinnys and great booties and you have a complete look. As most of you can tell from past posts I’m a fan of Kendra Scott’s jewelry and these earrings are so edgy with the yellow onyx and chains. And I definitely suggest looking at her sale section while visiting her website because she has wicked deals.

Feeling The Blue

Pantone has just released their top ten colour picks for spring 2012. Today I wanted to write about Sodalite Blue, A dark blue with a slight undertone of black. This season not only is Sodalite huge in cosmetics but also in fashion, Navy blue is a spring must in pants and dresses. This season I’m lusting over the sheath dress by TopShop (in the corner) its not really my style but I think it’s a classic and would work well on most body types. I’m also gaga over the Lisa Stewart blue stone chandelier earring there beautiful and simple (big earring are totally back in by the way) and can be worn to dress up any ensemble.

The Red Carpet Look

So, I'm a little late on sharing my favorite Golden Globe look but I still wanted to do it anyways. This year it was all about Charlize Theron in a slashed-leg peach chiffon origami-style gown by Christian Dior. She looked absolutely amazing.

Copy That

Today, while looking through a magazine I saw this picture of khloe kardashian in this jumper and a pair of fringed boos and I just love it. It makes me long for summer, so in honor of her fabulous look I wanted to write an entry called “Copy That”. The dress in the picture below is by Amanda Uprichard and retail for about $200 I like this dress for a multitude of reasons, It has sleeves so it can be worn on its own, the pattern is flattering and in a large print. Last but not least it hits just above the knee to its great for spring and summer. Now I believe that you should never copy of look exactly.  It’s important to make the look work for you and make it look your own. The boots shown are by Steve Madden and retail for also $200 and really give you that wow factor.

My Last Purchase

So today I wanted to share with you these fabulous pants I just ordered form the gap online. These Harem pants are fully washable and made of cotton. And the best part, they look expensive which in fact they weren’t I got them for only $33.99 on sale. I’m actually wearing them as I type this post. The high waist is very flattering when you tuck in a blouse or top and the button detailing is adds just enough style. Love, love these pant I would definitely suggest these pants to any girl who want something comfortable and chic for work.

Denim!

One of my favorite materials in denim, I love that gives you the option of dressing up and down and is easy to maintain. I know in previous posts I’ve talked about the proper fit and wash but today I wanted to talk about accessorizing with denim. This season I’m loving the Matt & Natt denim studded bag which retails for $100. What draws me to this bag is the antiqued brass studs and the double zipper detailing, as well as it works both as a shoulder bag and clutch (love a bag that does double duty). I know the idea of wearing multiple denim pieces at one seems to be a little overkill but if done correctly you can look really chic. The key to rocking this look is to mix different washes of denim ex. wearing the Matt & Natt bag with the denim mini. This way you avoid looking to matchy matchy. Also as a common tip don’t wear more than three denim pieces at once, you want to look chic not tacky.
